I realized today that I am as slow a writer as I am a reader. I have well over 60 topics for my new blog posts (I’m not kidding, I just counted). And I have about a dozen half written partially formed posts as well which require proofreading and rewriting. I have a ton of content. In an effort to eliminate some anxiety of feeling like I have to rush my more lengthy and thoughtful blog posts, I’m going to start posting shorter reflections on recent ideas and experiences that I’ve had throughout my days. I may talk about my sneaky cat or some new project I happen to be working on that week. Hopefully, this will result in me writing more regularly…(I said hopefully). So without further ado, I give to you my first reflection.
I like to listen to podcasts…
I like to listen to podcasts on my iphone (and sometimes on my computer). It’s one of my many hobbies. I listen to a variety of podcasts on various topics including software development, culture, minimalism, philosophy, religion and more. One of the podcasts I’ve been digging lately is the pray-as-you-go podcast. They feature daily reflections that include scripture reading, music, and some daily reflection.

These 10 to 13 minute podcasts help me prepare my mind for the day. I find that if I don’t start my day off with some sort of positive input, it becomes all too easy for my mind to become distracted throughout the day. I begin to forget what is really important. If I am reminded of how valuable this day really is, I find myself less likely to squander it. I begin to recognize that I am not the center of the universe, that there are others around me. I become a better friend, neighbor, brother, son and human being when I take a couple of minutes in my morning to prepare for the day by listening to something that will feed my spirit. Well, my friends, I would like to leave you with one of the reflections that I listened to on my drive to work this morning. It has stuck with me all throughout the day and my hope is that in some way it may resonate with you.
And the things of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace – Tuesday 7, 2016 Episode of the pray-as-you-go podcast
